BAFTA Film Gala (2019)

February 8, 2019: 

Tom Hiddleston attended the BAFTA Film Gala at the Savoy Hotel in London. The event is a magical evening dedicated to raising funds to support our belief that everyone with talent, regardless of background, deserves the chance to shine. Tom has been heavily involved in all of BAFTA's initiatives to make the film industries more accessible and inclusive.  He served as a Honorary Committee Member for the inaugural BAFTA Film Gala in 2015. 

Tom spoke about the importance of what BAFTA is doing: 

"...so much work, often unsung work, about leveling the playing field for everything, keeping the doors open for everyone no matter where you're from, whatever background. If you have a story to tell, BAFTA want to hear from you." 

Additionally, Tom took a moment to honor Albert Finney who sadly passed away the day before this event. They acted together in 2002's The Gathering Storm. 

"He was the most kind, the most gracious, the most inspiring actor. It was my really my first significant professional acting role, playing Randolph Churchill in The Gathering Storm, in which he (Finney) played Winston Churchill. I was 20 years old, very nervous, and he could not have been more charming and helpful, kind and considerate. And he bought me a whiskey afterwards!" 

Tom Hiddleston reunited with BAFTA Young Presenter Braydon Bent on the red carpet. Braydon who previously interviewed him at the BAFTA Kids Event in March 2018.  

Braydon always has the best interviews. Tickets to Betrayal were included in the auction prizes, I'm pretty sure that sold for more than £1. He also got Tom to reveal that all the Avengers are on his contact list (I'm trying to see that group chat) and how he had celebrated his 10th birthday! 

Tom may be a Jaguar man, but he arrived in an Audi since they are the official car sponsor for all BAFTA events.
